Wonder, tended daily
Our story
Maravilla is an inn, retreat center, and farm located in Taos, New Mexico. This endeavor was brought to life by Jon Dettling and Kim Corneille, who were called to Northern New Mexico in recent years and feel incredibly grateful to have made their forever home here, in the magical high desert under the sacred Taos Mountain.
Jon started his career in the field of sustainability and has a passion for taking care of the environment. Kim is a lifelong educator, with a dedication to working with at-promise youth and supporting teachers with their well-being. They both share interests in gardening and farming, exploring well-being practices, the healing power of horses, and sharing Taos with those who are drawn to visit. The various offerings at Maravilla bring to fruition these passions, as well as many years of work, renovation, and visioning. In many ways, Maravilla is their dream made tangible – a sanctuary for visitors seeking respite, and a hub for education and wellness in the heart of Taos.

The property
The land Maravilla sits on has a long memory. Originally built as an adobe structure during the territorial period, the property later became a beloved local bed and breakfast, then a home for veterans through the Not Forgotten Outreach nonprofit, who worked the land as a farm. Jon and Kim took it over and have been lovingly restoring and expanding it – rebuilding the inn, adding more community space, reviving the acequia, and returning life to the soil.
Maravilla sits on the unceded ancestral lands of the Taos Pueblo people, who have called this place home for over a thousand years. We are grateful to be here and committed to honoring that history in how we operate, who we partner with, and how we care for this land.

What we believe
Maravilla was born of a few core principles – ones that shape everything from how we source our food to who we invite into this space.
Connection: We create space for people to connect with themselves, with others, and with the natural world.
Community: We believe in the full potential of people coming together. Our offerings are designed to be accessible, not exclusive.
Reciprocity: We aim to see every offering as a gift. We operate a business, but we're always looking for ways to give more than we take.
Education: From community workshops to support for educator wellness, we believe in growth opportunities for all people.
Do no harm: Plant-based food, local sourcing, acequia stewardship, and a genuine commitment to reducing our footprint.

Our vision
To create a space that provides the conditions for growth and healing for all people.
